Donate in memory of Percy the Hedgehog

Percy the Hedgehog  passed away peacefully in his sleep on August 22nd. You may recall the tragic story of Percy the Hedgehog. Back in 2011, Percy was subjected to a horrific attack - when he was used as a football - by a group of youths at the Arena sports ground in Camberley. Percy was brought to Anne Brummer, founder of Harper Asprey Wildlife Rescue in the early hours of the morning by Surrey Police.  Percy had had several smashed bones  and underwent a complex operation. He had visibly swelling from the severe attack he had been subjected to - It was one of the most horrific incidents we have ever seen.

Fortunately, Percy was a young and fit hedgehog prior to the attack and he was able to survive the emergency operation but had suffered brain damage and was unable to curl up properly, leaving him vulnerable to predation in the wild. Percy lived his life a home for life in a protected organic garden . Anne said" We’re sad to announce that Percy passed away peacefully in his sleep last night. Percy was an elderly hedgehog who had managed to live a good life despite the brutal attack that effected his day to day life”

We'll remember Forever Goodbye Dear Percy

Percy came into us at 4am in the back of a police car. The police had been  a horrific attack on the  defenceless hedgehog. He had many broken bones after being used as a football. With our amazing vet, Gill, and a lot of special care for several months Percy recovered. We care for many hedgehogs throughout the year and hand rear many tiny orphans too. Please support our work by adopting Percy
