Tawny Owl: Jo

Owls are always lovely to see but sadly we often see them after they have had an encounter with traffic or even poison. This Tawny Owl

came into us in shock - he was very quiet and didn't move from the back of the cage for ages.

Although, he has no obvious injuries so we are hoping he just needs a few days of complete rest and easy food to get him through.

Jo is now eating - it took a couple of days! - and is feeling a bit feistier than he was before which is a great sign. It is very normal for Tawnys to adopt a sleeping posture before striking when the threat gets too close, so we are very used to them being docile in their run. However, Jo was far too quiet and lethargic when he came in to just be docile.

OUTCOME:

Jo managed to overcome his shock and started eating fairly quickly. We are really happy with his progress so have moved him to our outdoor aviary so he can begin the release process and get some exercise.
