Buzzard: Aldry

Aldry the young Buzzard arrived with us after being poisoned and also with a damaged wing. Her wings need some TLC and a lot of time to

heal but otherwise she is looking good. We see a lot of birds come into us after being poisoned and it is such a shame! A lot of the time they do not make it, purely because by the time they get to us, their body has started shutting down already. Aldry was lucky.

Please, please think before you use slug pellets and other chemicals in your garden. They do not just affect the species it is intended for - which is equally as horrific - it works its way up the food chain and affects many other species including birds of prey, foxes and hedgehogs. We really do urge people to not use chemicals and always find other alternatives.

OUTCOME:

Aldry was released on site after spending a few weeks in our pre-release run outside. Her wing took a while to heal so she had to be kept inside for quite a while before we felt she was ready to enter our outside run. Birds of prey do not do well in captivity and she was eager to go!
