Heron: Harriet

Harriet the young heron is fit and well after damaging her wing on an early flight. She spent a busy week hopping around one of our inside

runs, recovering from her crash landing. She spent some time in our release pond whilst we continued to monitor her through trap cameras. We wanted to make sure her wing had properly healed. Harriet was very grumpy - typical of herons!

We opened the doors and transferred her to a larger pond just outside. She continued to fly back every few days for some food, which was fine with us as it gave us a chance to carry on monitoring her. They are such beautiful birds! We were all pleased when she left the rescue and that lovely, distinctive, fishy smell went with her!
