Bat: Arthur

Another bat arrives - the temperature is paying havoc with their hibernation this year. The danger of an animal waking early

from hibernation is that there is just not enough food available to them, which was the very reason they went into hibernation in the first place.

Arthur, this tiny pipistrelle, won’t have to worry about food whilst he is in our care! However, he had an encounter with a feline which has left him with a torn wing and a slight infection to fight.

We are doing all we can to ensure his tiny body is strong enough to fight the infection and the tear in his wing will mend with time.

Arthur has joined our group of other bats that are currently in our care! It is a big step but we are sure he is ready and strong enough for this. Although he may not necessarily be able to be released at the same time as the others because of the time it takes for the wing to mend, he will be much happier with some company.
