Tawny Owl: Penny

This juvenile Tawny Owl came into us in a sorry state. She was very underweight when she arrived with us, but it still took her a whole

two days to start eating her food! With a little encouragement, she has now picked it up well.

We can only imagine that she fledged the nest and didn't get on too well away from her parents.

She is now putting on weight nicely, so will hopefully continue to thrive.

Penny is doing much better now and her eating pattern is much more regular. She is continuing to put on weight, so should be ready for an outside pre-release run soon.

Phaidros, Penny and another Tawny Owl have made their way into our outside run for the final part of their release. We think they are enjoying the brief patches of sunshine too! Excuse the awful photo, it is from our trap camera that is located in the run.

We finally managed to get a photo of all 3 Owls in the run!

All three have now been released on site. They all flew off into nearby trees where they settled for a short while, taking in their new home.
